Start up businesses are booming in the Dallas-Ft.Worth metroplex. Handbag designer Jacque Martin wants to help encourage this trend. Martin knows a thing or two about entrepreneurship, since starting her first accessory line back in 2012. Eager to share her knowledge, experience, and inspiration, Jacque signed on to be a panelist on the “Mogul in the Making: Young, Black, & Gifted” networking event, hosted by the Legna Media Group & JonesTwo Communications. The event is meant to give DFW-based entrepreneurs a chance to network and build relationships.
To kick off this motivational weekend, Jacque M. partnered with Baller Alert, JonesTwo Communications, and Legna Media group to host an intimate networking social called the “Custom Clutches & Cocktails” event at the Jacque M. studio. To celebrate female entrepreneurs, and encourage young women to develop their brand, Jacque M. held a contest for young female entrepreneurs. The prize was a personal invite to the “Custom Clutches & Cocktails” event and their own Jacque M. custom clutch. As the emails started rolling in, the Jacque M. team narrowed the contestants down by professionalism, creativity, and confidence. Among the winners chosen were stylist/boutique owner Jasmeen Davis, hair stylist Jasmine Soleil, and accessory designer Joy Hardaway.
After inspiring young female entrepreneurs at the “Custom Clutches & Cocktails” event, Jacque M. shared her insight once more to inspire young business owners at the “Moguls In The Making” entrepreneur panel and networking social. Among the panelists were k104 radio personality/DJ Bay Bay, Baller Alert editor/blogger Eleven 8, marketing guru Big Tex, & wig designer/fitness expert Britney Mcgee.
The event opened up with a networking social, which gave each young aspiring entrepreneur the chance to have a one-on-one with the panelists. Hosted and moderated by Quite Frank, the event kicked off with spoken word artist Shy Speaks. After Shy’s stirring performance, the panelists were brought on stage. The panelist took turns answering questions asked by the audience. Their take-aways were nothing less than amazing:
“If you’re wanting to be an entrepreneur, then go for it, don’t wait! If you’re scared, it’s ok, push thru.” -Jacque M.
“It’s not who you know, it’s who knows you, with emphasis on impressions.” -Eleven 8
“Stop calling it networking, let it be about relationship building & human interaction!” -Big Tex
“Your attitude will determine your altitude.” -Bay Bay
“I draw inspiration from making women feel good about themselves, from their hair to their heels.” -Britney Mcgee
